A Scandinavian Christmas

Scandinavian Christmas

This Christmas, I was lucky enough to be asked by the fabulous Kimberly over at Swoon Worthy to be involved in her first ever UK Blog Hop for Christmas! Obviously as soon as I heard the C word, how could I say no? It is after all my favourite time of the year.

I never go too mad with my Christmas decorations (or at least I don’t think I do), but generally the decorations stick to the living room and just a touch in the dining area for Christmas dinner – oh and some twinkly white icicle lights for the house outdoors obviously! So here’s my take on a subtle Scandinavian Christmas…

The Mantlepiece

First up – the mantelpiece. I just love a festive makeover to the fireplace this time of year, even if it’s only a subtle hint of Christmas like mine. This is also the perfect opportunity to show off my new Peony Print from Cloudberry Living – how beautiful though?! All I used to create this festive look is this snowy cone garland – £4.80 is a steal right?! This stunning gold Magnolia flower, some LED star copper lights and my latest favourite candle… from my favourite candle shop – Candelle & Co.

Simple Accessories

I just adore this little Christmas tree jar, you can fill it with whatever you like, quality street, baubles, twinkly lights, whatever takes your fancy. Mine obviously features more Cox & Cox baubles and another set of copper star lights.

The Tree

For the second year in a row, all (give or take a few) of my Christmas Tree Decorations are from the wonderful Cox & Cox and I know for a fact that I will be heading back to them next Christmas too. They have such an amazing range of Christmas items, and not just decorations either, great gifts for all ages too. I got a range of blush, copper, white and grey decorations this year – next year I’ve decided I need a flocked tree!! Cox & Cox are great for homewares all year round, they have a huge range of Scandi looking items which is why I have always been drawn to them, but their Christmas collection always overwhelms me every year. When the Christmas catalogue arrives it’s always the same thought, UH – OH. I need everything. In order to create the perfect Winter grotto that is…

The best part is that Cox & Cox have the most fabulous regular promotions so make sure you sign up to their newsletter to benefit!

The Dinner Table

I always remember Christmas when I was younger as the time when Mum got the posh plates out, the ones we weren’t allowed to use unless we had special guests over, and that is what the new Curious Department’s Insect Mandala Ceramic Collection reminds me off, because it’s so special I certainly wouldn’t let just anyone eat/drink from it! Soz! That gold (REAL GOLD BTW) detailing though? Can you blame me… the monochrome and metallic detailing matches my black and white dining area perfectly right? It’s like they were a match made in heaven!

The fantastic duo at the Curious Department have made this stunning range available here on kickstarter and they are already smashing their target with over 50% of their target goal and in just the first week too. If this range is up your street then please do help this wonderful small business get this range off the ground, I can’t recommend them enough and you can probably tell from the images that the quality of the ceramics is just superb.

This year my Christmas wreath is staying put on my dining table with a candle in the middle as a centre piece, and the reason it’s staying indoors is because this is not any ordinary Christmas Wreath, it’s an edible wreath from Rocket Gardens! Made entirely from bay, rosemary and chillies – genius yes?! Perfect for adding a hint of flavour to all your Christmas recipes.
