Front Door Makeover

This post is in collaboration with Everest, Cox & Cox, Dobbies Garden Centres and Black Country Metalworks.

It’s here! Our beautiful front door makeover! And as promised… the ugly before photos too! I’ve been absolutely desperate to get a new front door for the last four and a half years since I moved in so I’m beyond happy to be sharing this with today. I’ve linked absolutely everything you can see below but please do leave a comment if you have any questions.

We went for a Composite Front Door from Everest and genuinely could not be happier. Aside from how aesthetically pleasing it looks, we’ve already noticed a huge difference from our previous door as we no longer have a nasty draft coming through under the door. I honestly think it’s going to make a huge difference to keeping our house warm this Winter as well as being more secure and therefore safer too! We went for the Brompton front door with all gold hardware (duh), in ‘Beach Pebble’ grey. I was really tempted to go for pink but as popular and on trend as that would be now, grey will stay classic for much longer and the front door is not something we want to be changing for a very, very long time.

I have wanted one of these Bumblebee Door Knockers for years now, so finally being able to have a door worthy of one makes me so happy. They are really affordable at Black Country Metal Works at just £34.99 (that’s also the best price I’ve seen them at too – I’ve seen the same ones for double that online) and they have loads of other designs that are available in different colour hardware if gold isn’t your thing. They really add a little bit of character to your front door.

Our beautiful faux eucalyptus wreath (technically a Christmas wreath) is from Cox & Cox – I’m not entirely sure if it’s suitable for outdoors long term but we will most likely swap it to an door inside soon when we get nearer to Christmas. The blue toned leaves just work perfectly with the grey door so I couldn’t resist putting it up here for a while. If you can recommend fabulous wreath companies – faux or real, please do comment below – I’d love to hear! We hung the wreath over the door with very, very thin wire and tied it on the bolt from the door knocker on the other side of the door, so there’s no damage to the door done.

Our gorgeous brass cage downlights are exactly what I was looking for for the front door. They’re statement lights and tie in with the gold hardware on the door perfectly and with some filament bulbs, they give off the warmest glow – perfect for dark Winter evenings!

We knew we wanted plants outside the new front door but we had no idea what we wanted. We headed to Dobbies Garden Centre and after some really helpful advice from them, we decided on olive trees & planters. They’re a little different from typical round bay trees either side of the front door and again, I love the blue toned leaves next to the grey front door. Plus, as they were outside of their season, the trees were half price! There’s no doubt about it, they finished the door off perfectly.

And last but not least, we have a really (very ugly) awkwardly slim front door step that I wanted to cover up with something a bit prettier – after a bit of hunting, I came across this bargain £5 Welcome Front Door Mat!

As promised… the before!

And the before and after from inside too, it’s made such a huge difference to both sides.

Absolutely gorgeous Olivia, love everything you’ve chosen! For wreaths I can definitely recommend The Big Door Wreath Company (or something like this, if you check out my latest grid post on insta with Maddie on the doorstep I tagged their wreath) they make beautiful faux ones x

It looks so lovely – we have a front door similar to your old one but I’m concerned about the loss of natural light in the hallway if we change to a full door style; have you noticed a difference?
