Litecraft

I was recently contacted by the lovely people at Litecraft who asked me to style my mantelpiece using one of their table lamps so I was delighted when I took a look at their range and came across their LED Bell Jar Table Lamp, the lamp of my dreams.

I’m no expert mantelpiece decorator but I have a few tips of my own so I thought I’d share them with you guys.

CANDLES/LIGHTING

The newest addition is the LED Bell Jar Table Lamp which is even better in real life, with so many LED lights it gives off more light than any other lamps in the house – seriously! The lamp doesn’t come assembled so you do have to put the lights in yourself but it’s massively worth it once you plug it in. And there was light. I’m seriously impressed with it if you can’t tell.

I like to have a range of candles on the mantelpiece too (since like most girls I’m obsessed with candles), my usual favourites from Candelle & Co, candles and the most deliciously scented wax melts, and then for my magic trick, I give you the blossoming candle. It baffles me every time I get a new one how they work, but it does what it says on the tin, no drips, just a blossoming candle – amazing.

BALANCE

A bit of balance makes an aesthetically pleasing mantelpiece, and I don’t mean a completely symmetrical mantel, just an even balance across the piece, think of it like a seesaw that you want to keep level. For example, I wouldn’t put this bell jar lamp on one end and then nothing on the other. But of course just because balance work for me doesn’t mean it’s the only way… after all it wouldn’t be your own sense of style if everyone had the same.

FEATURE PIECE

Previously I had a beautiful Laura Ashley mirror hanging above the fireplace which worked beautifully but it was so large that I didn’t have space to put anything on the mantelpiece so it has since been moved to the hallway. But then I found the perfect feature replacement, this stunning Peonies print from Cloudberry Living, it’s the perfect focal point.

It’s as simple as that. What are your tips on decorating a mantelpiece?

This is a sponsored post but as always my opinions are my own.
