Good evening and welcome back! I hope you all had the loveliest long Bank Holiday weekend? I know it’s been a few weeks since my last blog post but it’s gotten really busy over here with our wedding just around the corner now… but finally, I’ve managed to get our wetroom reveal post up on the blog. I uploaded the video tour over on my YouTube channel a few months ago as soon as the project was completed so I know that this won’t be news to some of you, but I first started Lust Living out on my blog a long time before attempting YouTube so I will forever continue to use this space, I love to blog, it’s how I started, it’s my creative space!

Anyway, on with the wetroom. This is by far the most awkward room in the house to photograph which is why there aren’t many full room shots, so I would highly recommend watching my wetroom tour to get perspective and a better idea of the space. This truly is a small bathroom and hopefully, this project helps to show what you can do with a small space to make it feel bigger (see the before and after here). We took this room from a dull, cramped family bathroom with a bath to a modern, open feel wetroom – absolutely all fitting/labour was done by myself and (mostly) Matt and all design/layout is by me! We were only able to ditch the bath because a few years ago we put an ensuite in upstairs with a bath so we felt like it wasn’t absolutely necessary to keep the bath in this bathroom too. I’ve discussed the whole renovation process in detail over on my video tour and I don’t want to completely duplicate what I said over there, so please do go and have a watch if you wish to know more – otherwise, as always, everything is linked at the end of this blog post.

Writing this blog post a few months down the line does allow me to share any regrets we have in hindsight. I will always share my honest opinion of any product, and this is the one thing that we would do differently if we were to do this room over. Whilst I am still completely over the moon with this room, the one thing that we would both be cautious about using again is cement tiles (our floor tiles). As much as I adore the design, from start to finish they were hard work. There’s a lot of prep work to do before you can even lay them properly, they require sanding, sealing and then time in between to allow the seal to soak in properly. Of course this may not be an issue for you in the slightest if you are having professionals fit your tiles – perhaps we made mistakes along the way as we carried the work out ourselves, but regardless, these type of tiles do require upkeep and the same prep every couple of years, so please do be aware of that and do your research. That being said, I love them, so it’s not a complete regret, just a slight irritation – truthfully I should have done more research into them instead of assuming they could be fitted like normal finished tiles. But hopefully, this will help someone else from making the same mistake!
