How To Create A Simple But Sleek Black & Gold Table Setting

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you will be well aware of the gold trend (and my personal favourite trend) that we are seeing in homewares at the moment (be it bright gold, brass, rose gold, give me all the golds). This month, I’ve been challenged by Wayfair to style my own table setting using their Viners gold cutlery with these Seltmann Weiden black and white plates. So today I’m sharing a simple but sleek table setting that doesn’t require too much effort, faff or money, using items that you may well already have at home.

Mixing gold with black is a whole other trend we are seeing, one that I love, which you might already be aware of given that I have black windowsills and a black feature wall in my dining area – but this trend can be incorporated on a smaller scale with your table setting – black makes for the perfect feature accent plates especially when teamed with gold cutlery – the two colours contrast perfectly.

So what else do we need for this simple, sleek table setting? And we are talking about the minimum necessities here… the amount of food I like to have on the table leaves little room for clutter. First and foremost, Champagne saucers – because… Prosecco, always Prrosecco. An ice bucket for the Prosecco, obviously. Flowers are a must, my personal favourite at the moment is a simple bunch of pink roses, cheap to buy and I find that pink really compliments gold as well as brightening any setting up… and a gold vase of course – I can’t even remember if I own any vases that aren’t gold anymore?! Finally, to jazz up the fancy gold cutlery just a tiny bit (because let’s face it, it’s pretty fancy cutlery all by itself), I use some string and a stem of faux eucalyptus (but you could use any flower or leafy stem, faux or fresh – you could even pick some from your garden) which I tie to the cutlery. Pop them on your accent plate (and how amazing are these plates by the way… they’re so different to anything I’ve seen before) and voila, there you have it, a feature place setting. Simple and it’s quick too so you won’t have to spend hours getting the table ready for your guests!

And that’s it! I told you it was easy didn’t I? What are your tips for the perfect table setting?

Gorgeous setting Liv and any guest would be lucky to walk into this! Just lovely! I also could not agree with you more about prosecco in saucers… ifs not prosecco unless it’s served like that! 🙂
