When it costs just £8.50 to make, you can’t go wrong with this simple 4 step DIY marble tray Ikea hack. I have a couple dotted around my home for different things… makeup/jewellery storage, candle tray, key tray, a charming place to throw those bits that end up lying around like coins. I’m a bit of a neat freak so everything has to have a home – and if it’s home happens to be marble effect, even better!
You will need:
- Ikea Ribba Frame – Black or White, up to you. You could use any photo frame really – doesn’t have to be Ikea
- Marble Effect Self Adhesive Film – you will get a lot of other marble DIYS out of this 2m roll
- Scissors
- Firstly, remove the glass panel from the front of the frame.
- Cut the marble film to size using this glass panel as a measure – give an inch extra each side.
- Peel one end of the marble film and slowly stick it to the glass panel, rub your fingers up and down as you go to remove air bubbles. Work your way to the other end of the glass panel and then with the excess film, fold over the other side of the glass panel and stick down – this will help secure the marble in place and prevent it from peeling off the used side in the future.
- Pop the newly marble glass panel (marble side up) in the back of the photo frame – where you would normally place a photograph. Pop the back of the frame back on and finnito, you have your very own marble tray!
Happy marbling!
Love this, definitely going to try it! Got so much marble adhesive lying around and I look around the room wondering what I can marble haha!
Love this idea, thanks for sharing!
