If you follow me on Instagram then you will know that about a month ago I was umming and ahhing about wether to be bold and wallpaper a feature wall in Dalmatian print. Well, I bit the bullet and did it, and boy am I glad I did. I absolutely love it. Like head over heels in love. I know this will not be everyones taste with it being quite in your face, but I’m chuffed that it’s come out so well in the office – this is probably the wildest thing I have ever done interior wise so I admit I was a little nervous about going through with it.
It wasn’t even that long ago that I revealed this office, you can see the original reveal here, but I just felt it was missing something – turns out I was just missing a bit of spotty dog in my life. I haven’t actually put everything back up on the wall that was there before, mainly because I’m trying to be cautious about drilling holes all over the wallpaper, I (my partner) can’t exactly just fill them in like with the white wall before. Since there’s so much going on with the wallpaper I don’t feel I need as much anyway so it worked out quite well, I’ve put up my favourite Olive et Oriel calendar print and my More Thank Just Wire words, and that’s the only permanent holes there are for now. The left hand side was left looking a little bare so I’ve added some plants to fill the space and actually the green really compliments the wallpaper print.
I got my wallpaper from Sweet Pea Wall Design and I highly recommend them, they’ve got a huge range of gorgeous designs but the best part is that the wallpaper is removable. That means no wallpaper paste, no soaking, no dry time, and no special equipment needed to apply it, it also makes it so much easier to put up that regular wallpaper – simply wipe clean your wall, peel off the backing paper and apply to the surface starting at the top and working your way down. I found it’s got a bit of stretch in it too so it’s a bit easier to manipulate into going the way you want it to. It’s been up for 4 days now and it’s not lifting or anything like that so don’t worry about it not being sticky enough, it’s brilliant! If you get bored of it eventually it also means it just peels off – no wallpaper steamer requires and it leaves no residue. Since the removable wallpaper is a special matte polyester wall fabric, it’s not transparent, so you can apply it over any colour surface and the colour will not show through the paper. With this fabric as well, it’s wipeable so if you knock it it just wipes off so it’s incredibly practical too, so much so that I’m thinking of getting something like this for in my utility (the dogs’ room) since I have to wipe the walls down so often! Honestly, if you try removable wallpaper you will never go back I guarantee you.
