IT’S FINALLY TIME TO SHOW YOU THE REVEAL! Sorry, I’m just a little excited, it’s been mission impossible keeping this under wraps the last few days and resisting sharing any sneak peeks of the finished room, but here it is – and I hope you love it as much as I do!
If you’re joining me from Malcolm Begg’s Design Sixty Nine Blog and his Guest Bedroom Makeover then Hello and thank you for joining me and you can hop to the next blog at the bottom of this post!
So incase you missed it – over the last 4 weeks, I’ve been taking part in #RevampRestyleReveal, which involves 10 bloggers, 4 weeks, 1 room to makeover and a bunch of amazing sponsors (who are all linked at the bottom of this post) to help us get the job done. The room I chose to #RevampRestyleReveal was my living room, and if you fancy seeing the progress over the last 4 weeks, you can see all that here as well as my original mood board for how I envisioned my living room looking. It’s been stressful, it’s been intense, it’s been tough squeezing it all in around a full time job, but I’ve loved every second and can’t thank Lisa and Bianca enough for asking me to be a part of this – I’m grateful to have been asked but more than that, I’ve been introduced to a group of incredible, hilarious (ferret/scarecrow, inside joke 😉 ) bloggers through this experience too, so please, please do check out all their #RevampRestyleReveal projects too – everyone’s style is so different and unique but equally as incredible so be sure to hop through them all – they are all linked at the bottom of this post! I like to think we have kept each other sane through a crazy 4 weeks!
So I thought it would be fun to show you the bigger picture makeover as well as the revamp that’s happened over the last 4 weeks, below is a few photos of the house when I moved in 4 years ago and a few roughly before the 4 week #RevampRestyleReveal challenge began, so you can get a good feel for all the changes that have been made to the space – and more importantly, how achievable it is for anyone to transform a space!
THE SIDEBOARD AKA DOGGY DEN
So the first part of the the project was to build a side cabinet in the alcove to the left of the fireplace to match the other side – I can’t take any credit for this except for painting it, Matt made the entire thing! By popular request I will be doing a follow up DIY blog post on how he made the sideboard in the coming weeks just FYI. The living room’s a bit of an awkward shape room in terms of theres nowhere really to put a dog bed without it taking up a lot of space or being somewhere that it’s completely in the way so we decided that the sideboard needed to also double up as a doggy den inside – and voila! On the left hand side Matt’s installed shelves for all the bits that need to sit under the TV, X-Box, Wi-fi etc so all the messy cables are hidden which is fab, but on the right hand side, it’s an open space – a space perfect for a pig – and Bean loves it, and that is no exaggeration seriously (he’s snoozing in it right now as I type this) – Alfie is not neglected don’t worry, he goes in there occasionally but he prefers to stretch out on the wooden floor – hot blooded dog that one! I’m sure it will cross someone’s mind – but of course, we never shut the door with the dogs in there so please don’t think that, the dogs are only ever in the living room when we are in there so we just open it up for them then. Doggy den = massive success.
PAINT PALETTE
Once the doggy den was complete, it was time to get decorating. After testing a bunch of different tester pots on the walls and the fireplace, I settled on my room colours. I wanted a dramatic change to the wall colours – so I went against all my usual instincts and went dark on the walls – ‘Trilby’ by Earthborn Paints – the perfect blue toned charcoal grey. I’m so happy I took the plunge, it gives the shelves in the alcoves so much more depth, all the gold accessories really pop against this colour and it’s taken the room from airing on the side of caution to a room with real character. I didn’t want the dark to completely take over the room though so I brightened the fireplace and chimney breast up with ‘Cupcake’ by Earthborn Paints – the perfect pale pink shade, and possibly the most perfect colour to compliment gold details on the fireplace. The sideboards I painted in ‘White’ by Earthborn Paints – I didn’t want them to take away from the rest of the statement walls. I made sure to prep the sideboards and the fireplace with Earthborn Paints primer before painting, and for these areas I used the eggshell finish paint because I know that I will need to wipe the mantlepiece and sideboards over time and eggshell is much better for wiping than clay paint – the clay paint is what I used on the walls. I also used Trilby (to tie in with the wall colour) in eggshell to give the door a overdue makeover – bye magnolia door, I do not miss you in the slightest! Overall, I’m extremely happy with the colour choices – going dark was definitely the way to go!

STATEMENT RADIATOR
Well who knew that a radiator alone could change the entire look of a room?! And on that note… who knew radiators could be so damn sexy?! Okay… just me? But seriously, it is such a feature, this whole side of the room looks a million times better now – and doesn’t it just pop from the Trilby wall colour? Love it. This radiator is from Soak.com and even on a practical level, it’s incredible too – the living room is the coldest room in the house because it’s linked to the hallway and we get such a draft from our front door – the new radiator is a triple panel rad and honestly warms up the living room within ten minutes – if you have a particular drafty/cold room I cannot recommend getting a triple panel radiator seriously! 10/10!
FEATURE LIGHT PENDANT
Sorry I’ve got to say it again – sexy. Sexy sexy sexy! This light pendant was sent from the heavens I swear… well no, it wasn’t, it’s from the amazing David Hunt Lighting, and they hand spin the metal shades, so they’re definitely up there with the gods right?! This baby is from their Hyde Collection – and they have a variations of styles this collection, pendants, single wall lights, double wall lights – this is the Hyde 12 Light Pendant (which also comes in an even bigger size in the 18 Light version wow) so it has 6 lights up and 6 lights down and gives off more light than any light pendants I’ve had in here before – and I’ve changed the light a lot in here… so this one is definitely here to stay! Just look at it! *heart eyes*
MARBLE WALLPAPER
This was probably the toughest choice to make for #RevampRestyleReveal – I was struggling to decide between the Makrana Rose Quartz Wallpaper and Akoa the both from the Style Library’s Harlequin Collection, both pinky toned with gold detailing. I went with the Makrana Rose Quartz because I felt it was a little more feminine and a little softer than the tile effect of the Akoa, and I do actually love it – this is probably the boldest wallpaper I’ve ever used but I think it finishes the decor off perfectly and is in keeping with the pink and gold decor in the rest of the room.
BRASS BAR CABINET
Now that the decorating was done and dusted, I needed something to fill the space under the windowsill – we had an armchair there previously but it wasn’t incredibly practical and it didn’t get sat in since we already have a sofa and two armchairs in it, so it was a total waste of the space, so I’ve moved that elsewhere in the house and decided this would be the perfect spot for a bar cabinet. We spend most of our time in the living room and when we do have guests over, it’s where we end up sitting, entertaining – and drinking so it makes perfect sense. You already know my love for anything gold tones so as soon as I saw this brass fronted cabinet from Maisons du Monde, I knew I had to have it – it’s got serious art deco vibes too which I just love – someone take me back to Gatsby era please?! Another bonus is that as a result of moving all our glassware into this cabinet, we’ve freed up a whole cupboard in the kitchen – win win! But yeah, such a dreamy cabinet and it looks perfect teamed in front of the gold detailed wallpaper! The mirror above is from Maisons Du Monde too! It’s really brightened the room up having a floor length mirror in the corner!
Of course, no bar cabinet is complete without some new fancy stemware – gold as always. These beauties are by none other than – perfect for Summer since they’re actually plastic – shhhh don’t tell anyone! No breakages happening here though! Oh and a new candle of course! Because we could always do with another candle couldn’t we?
LOG STORAGE SOLUTION
This charming log holder is from The Cotswold Company – we no longer have to store the logs in an ugly plastic bucket yay! It fits the decor perfectly and actually stores a lot more logs than I thought it would! Pretty and practical.
TECH ADDITIONS
Truth be told, I’ve never got the hype over fancy TV’s, I’ve never been able to tell a better quality picture from an average one, and I’ve certainly never gotten excited over a TV screen before. Well those days are long gone. I’m my new TV’s biggest fan and I will shout it from the rooftops. This is the from ao.com. It’s amazing. From the crisp picture (4K ultra HD Display if you understand the tech lingo) to the ambilight behind the screen – and my favourite part – the remote has A NETFLIX BUTTON! Sorry, just very happy about that, because Netflix is life. I love a good Netflix series binge. Oh it’s also a smart TV too and it has an inbuilt mic so I can just tell the TV what I want I want to watch by speaking to it…. how cool?! Since Matt built the sideboard, it meant we had a bit more space to play with as we are able to angle the screen rather than have a TV that fits straight on in the alcove – so we are now the proud owners of this 55″ beauty – that teamed with the ambilights, it feels like we have our own cinema! Ok I could go on about it all day. But it’s one hell of a TV! Cannot recommend it enough! I’m still very giddy over it…
We’re gradually trying to turn the house into a smarter home – so we added to our smart collection with the Smart Speaker from ao.com – it’s so cute and discrete that it doesn’t look out of place on the sideboard. Always handy to have these around – they have so many uses. My favourite is to ask what the weather forecast is tomorrow! (Because clearly I’m too lazy to google it myself!)
The last electrical addition to the living room from ao.com is the – and let me tell you, this has been an absolute godsend over the last few weeks with the hot spells we’ve been having in the UK (by some miracle)! Whilst it will be used primarily in the living room, we have actually been taking it to the bedroom pretty much every night – it’s so quiet, especially on the lower settings, that we have no problem sleeping with it on – also it’s so light which makes it really easy to move about if you need to. I’m ready for a hot summer now Britain! Bring the sun to me!
And voila – once the electrical stuff was in and all traces of cables were hidden, that was the job done! I couldn’t be happier with the new living room look if I tried. A massive thanks to all the sponsors who helped make this possible, thanks to the 9 other bloggers who made the 4 weeks so enjoyable and hilarious and of course, a huge thanks to all of you, the public who have taken part in #RevampRestyleReveal with the hashtag over on Instagram – please continue to share your transformations so we can all see your amazing work!

Wow! What a fabulous transformation!
Fantastic transformation in a short period of time Liv, nice one!
I particularly LOVE they grey wall and light (and I know it’s not on this blog but the dog room too!)
It look fabulous Olivia. I love the grey, it’s really made the room feel so cosy. The TV looks amazing there and that light is just fabulous, great choices xxx
Olivia it’s SO beautiful! Everything ties in perfectly – you’ve done such a fabulous job! By the way, did I tell you my 13 year old is a big fan? Xx
Ah – such a beautiful space, Olivia! So glad you chose that marbled wallpaper, it’s incredible with the dark grey contrast. xx
Looks amazing Luv. Wish you’d come and do my living room! X
It’s absolutely STUNNING Olivia, not that I expected anything less. Such a good call to go bold with the paint colour and the light and radiator are just dreamy Xx
I love it, it is so beautiful. However, I have to say, the doggy photos here are the real winner for me! Look at their little faces enjoying the dog bed!! All the heart eyes!
It all looks fabulous I love the pale pink with the gold! Where are the two pink armchairs from please? X
It was a gorgeous space before but you’ve really taken it to the next level! Gorgeous updates (that light!! the wallpaper!!) and I adore the little doggy den!! xxx
Fantastic! This looks amazing! My favorite part is the wallpaper and the lighting! Referring to your dark wall, you know what they say, once you go dark, you don’t go back! And I speak from experience!
WOWZA, what a transformation! Hard to believe it is the same room after all that work, Olivia – a massive well done. Love that Bean and Alfie get their own little den, too, although like most pups they’ll probably take over the whole place given half the chance 😉
I’m so glad the doggy den is still there! For a moment I thought their space was gone, but now I see it has been transformed into a lux doggy den. You have the cutest dogs!
When was the house built? I am guessing late Victorian with the stone capped column outside and the nice fireplace. Nice jobs with the colours.
