Christian Louboutin Follies Strass Rete/Suede Lame 100 mm Bridal Wedding Shoes

Well, I cannot thank you enough for all the hits on the first wedding blog instalment last week – Our Blush & Gold Wedding Save the Dates. Due to its popularity, I’m back sooner than I had planned with the second instalment. I shared my wedding shoes on my Instagram stories a few weeks ago and I was blown away by the responses and DMs for more info on them. So here it is!

It’s quite the experience buying yourself your first pair of Louboutins, call me shallow but it truly was special. I’ve never spent this amount of money on a pair of shoes before and it’s highly unlikely that I ever will again, but if ever there were a time to splurge and treat to yourself to what I can only describe as real-life Cinderella glass slippers… your wedding day is it, or at least I think so! This purchase was not taken likely believe me if I did had not been working two jobs for the last few years there’s absolutely no way I would have even thought about looking at a pair of red soles – nevermind buying them. So a huge thank you to everyone who has read my blog over the years, liked my photos on Instagram and given me a thumbs up on Youtube – thank you for being interested enough to help me continue to do what I love and earn an income whilst doing it. Thank you for supporting this half of my life and as a result, thank you for helping me get my first pair of Loubies!

From stepping in the store surrounded by red soles, to getting home with your shoe box in tow and immediately trying them on again, just to bask in them (I sometimes try mine on in my pjs, because, well, why not) – every moment is special.

If like me, you’re a newbie to Christian Louboutin but have your heart set on some red soles, check out the bridal range online – narrow it down to what style you like and what heel height, the shoes I chose for instance come in three different heel heights and it comes in different colours too (silver might be more your thing than nude). The exact style I got is the Follies Strass Rete/Suede Lame 100 mm, this style has a suede back but there’s an almost identical style with a holographic/pearlescent effect back – Follies Strass Rete – these are available in the higher heel too but I couldn’t find them online. I went for suede as I knew I would get more wear out of these after the wedding, no I am not going to be one of those brides that keeps their heels pristine in a box for the rest of their life, if I’m spending this amount on a pair of heels, you better believe I’m going to wear them and get my money’s worth!

If you’re thinking about investing in a pair of Louboutins I would highly advise you to head to a store – they’re an investment pair of shoes so you absolutely need to be sure you are getting the right size – do not regret spending all that money I beg you! I’ve always been a size 38, and as Christian Louboutins come in half sizes I suspected I may need a 37.5, a 38 or possibly a 38.5 – but after heading into store, to my surprise I discovered that I actually needed to go down a whole size to a 37, so that’s my first piece of advice.

I’ve heard of a lot of Louboutins being highly uncomfortable which is why it was so important for me to try these on in-store too – I absolutely do not want to be in agony the whole wedding day – I was pleasantly surprised to find these comfortable, and it might be to do with the soft netting type fabric on top – but so far so good, of course, comfort in shoes is completely different from person to person so please do not take my word for it, go try them yourself to be sure!

I absolutely cannot wait to wear them on the day… 139 days to go! Until then, they will be strictly kept in their red protection bags in the box. Once we get our new carpet fitted upstairs I will start wearing them about (on carpet only) to try and wear them in a bit before the big day, I fully intend for the red soles to be completely unscratched on my wedding morning – if that means I have to take a bath mat to my wedding dress fittings to stand on to protect them, then so be it. The seamstress is going to think I’m a lunatic but needs must.

Who remembers these? Jimmy Choo Tia Rhinestone Crystal Heels – These are discontinued now (sadly because they have been my dream wedding shoes for so many years now) so you cannot buy new (unless you get really lucky, but there’s a few second hand like here) They’re basically an extra AF version of mine!
